I am a researcher at CIRCE (Research Center for Energy Resources and Consumption). I specialize in computer fluid dynamics (CFD) and simulation by the discrete element method (DEM). My current research field is combustion technologies applied to biomass combustion. I also have experience in the physics of granular matter: systems composed by discrete macroscopic constituents which interact via contact forces. We can find examples of these systems in our everyday life experience: sugar, grains, sand, rocks, toner... which can flow or pack to form amorphous solids.

Among the topics that I have studied:

  • Co-firing biomass / coal

  • Simulation of industrial furnaces and boilers

  • Electronic equipment cooling

  • HVAC

  • Exhaust gas for catalytic applications

  • Plastic deformation in amorphous solids

  • Silo flow

  • Avalanches

  • Silo clogging

  • Jamming

  • Pile formation

  • Complex Networks in granular systems
